Private Sólheimajökull Glacier Ice Climbing & Glacier hiking Adventure

Join ours private group and explore Iceland’s magnificent glaciers with expert local guides.

Discover The World of Ice and Fire

Iceland is often called the Land of Fire and Ice, and Sólheimajökull is a perfect example of why. Volcanic ash from past eruptions has settled on the glacier, creating striking contrasts between white and blue ice and dark volcanic ash. The result is a dramatic landscape unlike any other.

As we explore the glacier, you’ll discover fascinating natural features such as deep crevasses, ice caves, glacial meltwater, and ever-changing ice formations. On a clear day, you may even enjoy views towards the North Atlantic Ocean.

Glacier Hiking Meets Ice Climbing

This adventure combines glacier hiking with an introduction to ice climbing, giving you the chance to experience the glacier in more than one way. Whether you’re a first-time adventurer or someone looking for a more active outdoor experience, our guides will help you make the most of your time on the ice.

Our experienced outdoor guides know the glacier well, and some are also skilled glacier photographers. Along the way, they’ll help capture memorable photos of your experience — you can take home more than just memories.

What to Expect

The meeting point is the Sólheimajökull glacier parking area. Your guide will help you put on the necessary safety equipment before leading the group onto the ice.

The experience lasts approximately 4.5 hours. We combine glacier walking, ice climbing, and stops to explore the scenery and take photos, with a pace designed to make the experience enjoyable and manageable.
