Private Sólheimajökull Glacier Hiking Experience
Join ours private group and explore the amazing glacier!
Sólheimajökull is a well-known outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull, located approximately 2.5 hours from Reykjavík. Shaped by the movement of the glacier, melting ice, and Iceland’s volcanic activity, it features a fascinating mix of blue and white ice, dark volcanic ash, and dramatic crevasses.
Led by our experienced glacier guide, you’ll be equipped with the necessary safety gear before heading onto the ice. Along the way, discover the glacier’s changing formations, observe glacial meltwater and crevasses, and learn more about the natural forces that shape this remarkable environment.
Rather than simply admiring the glacier from a distance, you’ll experience it up close — walking across the ice and seeing a side of Iceland that can only be discovered on a glacier hike.
This experience is ideal for travellers who want to get closer to Iceland’s wild landscapes and try something beyond the usual sightseeing stops. Whether it’s your first time on a glacier or you’re an outdoor enthusiast, your guide will help you explore the ice while prioritising safety throughout the experience.
The meeting point is the Sólheimajökull Glacier parking area, where your guide will help you put on the necessary safety equipment before heading onto the ice.
The experience lasts approximately 4 hours, combining glacier hiking with plenty of time to explore the scenery and take photos along the way. The pace is designed to make the experience enjoyable and manageable, with regular stops to rest and take in the surroundings.
